First time with antler + stone cabochon:

This was supposed to be a gift to a mom friend who kindly gave me two of her husband's family's deer antlers (with his permission, of course ;)). They intended to do something with them but never got around to it, so I wanted to make them something nice in gratitude. I prepped the antler by...

Looking Stone or Crystal Pen Parts

Does anybody know of a shop or fabricator that can or does make stone or crystal pen parts? I'm thinking of center bands, finials, or other parts made from turquoise, lapis, amethyst, etc. I haven't seen very many of these, and I think it could be a cool addition to the overall pen. I've...

My wife mentioned that she wanted to help me make my pens . . . so I took her out to the rock pile so that she could pick one. This is one that she picked. She is now competent with the slab saw, trim saw and grinding machines! It has been fun to see her enjoy this as much as I do! We were...

    Walrus bone with hometown feel

My mother sent me this walrus jaw bone from her recent trip to Alaska, so naturally I turned some! I added rings of turquoise, reminiscent of New Mexico, and Blackwood for contrast. I apologize for the blurriness, still haven't quite gotten the hang of photographing the pens.
