None of the rocks at my place look that good either! I have to go hiking all over kingdom come just to find them!
If any of the stones appear to be translucent, I mix white powder in with the epoxy, when I glue up the tube. I think that's stronger than trying to paint the tube and then expecting the glue to adhere well to the paint.
