Welcome once again to another Bash. Whether its your first one or one of many
post in the thread to let us know you found us.

One of the things that will be new for some of you this year is all photos will have to be uploaded to the IAP website. No hosting them offsite with links in the threads.

Contest rules for review by the Bash Volunteers will be due In December.
We will post our Rules for the contests for public review in January.

I was hoping to stay below the radar, but here I am.
MPG is going well so I think I should be able to help here as well.

Since the participation in both the Horn and casing contests had slacked off I combined them. I believe that quite a few combined those elements anyway. Its the Horn/ casing combo listed at the bottom the list above the youth contests.

As always, I am available.

Jeff has confirmed that I can run the auctions again, so that and "Exotics" will be my primary functions---but if you need help with anything else, let me know.

Sign me up coach!
I'll be glad to work with Curtis on the puzzles again.

Feb is going to be a busy time for me, but I might be able to help with another contest or two if needed.

And please do include the Ugly Pen contest. It's the only one that I have a chance of winning anything. :)

Thank you guys for including this old man.
As I have told a few others........I would like to run the youth contests.
Again, the MN chapter is going to supply all the prizes for these contests.
Donations and purchases have been made and we have a wonderful collection of prizes for the kids this year.

We also have enough to add one small flat rate prize box for any other place it needs to be used. (Value +$25)
I will donate the postage for all the prizes again this year from these contests.

Thanks for letting me in on the fun.
Wayne

Mike,
What about one more contest that should be easy to do. A new member contest.
New members only, have to have joined since Jan last year.
Give the new people a shot at something......the older members could just sit this one out.

Wayne, we purposely did away with beginner named contests as well as Intermediate and Advanced. A new member contest is a great Idea but you have a tremendous range of skills in that group. We have contests tailored to give those different skill levels a place to play. THe Turning Challenged for newer or older turners with health or age conditions that affect their skills. Kitless and Freestyle on the other end.
We also have a limit to how many Contests we can effectively run. The work of the contest is primarily at the end with posting of pictures and polls and the winners.
The prize patrol work can easily extend two weeks and more likely another month. We give away apx 200+ prizes and they all have to be followed up on

I understand Mike. It was just an idea for thye new members .... no matter what their skill level. I would expect that the 'better' turners would move to the higher skill level contests. But if they did jump in........it really wouldn't matter as it is still the membership picking the winner.
AND, I totally understand about getting the prizes to the winners. (Been there.......have the t-shirt)

Good day gang. 1st timer for the bash as a event leader. So y'all take care of me.

Seriously? This just begs for some "special attention". Derek, take it away~

Be very carefull Bob..........There is two of us.

Not me Wayne.....Derek! I'm a big sissy, too slow with the witty comebacks. Derek on the other hand loves a challenge~

Hey Bob......I learn a long time ago not to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person.

Keep smiling

I will be asking the membership at large for Volunteers the First on November. If you have a preference on which contest(S) you would like to host let me know. Post it here in this thread. I will add the names of the host to the list of the contests on the first page of this thread.

I was going to offer to take over the Slimline contest this year but I see that Derek already has it. That's a good idea, give him another chance.
I'll take the Ball Point Pen contest...

Running is a great way to stay healthy.
My uncle started running 5 miles a day on his 50th birthday.
Today he is 75 and we haven't a clue where he is.

Mike, you know I want the kids contests.
Bob, I am going to get that on a t-shirt. Love it.

Those that have chosen a contest can start a thread with the rules and contest dates for review. If you need to you should be able to see 2015 contests if you want to copy and paste the contest rules from last year and update the dates.

Mike,

I'd be glad to take on a contest this year if you need me to. Advanced Kit, freestyle, pen box, or Get it Done would be ones I would have a clue about.

It is great to see you back Dave.

Hope that you and the kids have time to make a few entries.

Thanks Wayne,

We have finally had time to start turning the pens that were meant to be their Summer Extravaganza pens. Hopefully we will get them done in the next couple of weeks.

Should be done intime for Christmas and then they can start on their Bash entries.
Maybe even do a slimline and show the masters what the future is all about.
