Looking for a boring bar holder for 7x mini metal lathe, with a 3/8ths shank that will fit into the channel of this type of tool holder.
Thanks Bill. I called them today. They have the tool holder like mine, but no boring bar holder. I'm thinking the guy would have told me the one you show would work if in fact it would. I think because the V slot is different.Chuck,
If that toolholder fits a standard OXA QCTP why not just buy an OXA boring bar holder like this?

You too???Hey Chuck. I was accused of being boring at a bar a long time ago! Sorry, I digress.
Thanks Terry. Rick made a special tool for me. But he says he hasn't seen a holder like mine.Cheer - Rick Herrell's custom tools
A month or so back I ordered some custom tools from Rick Herrell, based on this posting: http://www.penturners.org/forum/f172/custom-made-penturning-tools-accessories-92501/ I had everything I ordered within a couple of days. I've finally had a chance to start using some of the tools I...www.penturners.org
Thanks Darrin. My round bar is 1/2" diameter. The opening in these tool holders is 7/16" I could have it milled, but don't think it's worth the trouble.@Dalecamino I don't think the type of holder you have is relevant. It's the opening in the side that is critical to what will fit. It's also possible, that the holder you have will take a boring bar on its own.
When I got the tool holders for my lathe, I bought two types. One is a "turning/facing tool holder" and the other is a "Boring/turning/facing toolholder". The only difference, is that there is a V groove in the second one, which keeps the round boring bar in place. Looking at your picture, I think yours has the same V groove.
LOLThanks Darrin. My round bar is 1/2" diameter. The opening in these tool holders is 7/16" I could have it milled, but don't think it's worth the trouble.
Thanks again Darrin. But soon you will see why I wanted to do it my way.LOL
Not knocking a good excuse for new QCTP, but it might be cheaper to get boring bars with a narrower diameter.
AAMSC?
QCTP = quick change tool post (they tell me it's a metal lathe thing)AA, MSC, QCTP? Lots of acronyms here. How about some definition for all the dumb A$$'$ like me! Sorry Chuck, this might be an inside joke that is way over my head.
Hey Chuck, you changed your avatar...what up? Is that one of your kit-less FP's? That's a beauty for sure, I sure hope I see more in the very near future.

Absolutely you count. I never needed a bar. Just a working refrigerator.Do I count? I have a bar downstairs and I have been known to be boring. - Dave
Give me a large coffee and a bar of cadbury mile chocolate to assist in my musings anytime. Bit concerned that Cadbury has started to change receipe recently .Absolutely you count. I never needed a bar. Just a working refrigerator.![]()
