Pluma pen assembly

I was looking at the instructions for the Pluma pen, and I'm confused. It says, "Press the Clip Assembly Coupler (E) flush, tapered end first into the open end of the Blank/Tube (C) assembly. Next slide Clip (F) onto Transmission Coupler (H) followed by the Trim Ring (G) and press the assembly into the open end of the Blank/Tube Assembly (C)." So are you supposed to press H in on top of E, pushing E farther into the tube? It doesn't make sense to me.

The instructions for the Berea Pensar are slightly different. Still doesn't make sense to me. Maybe I'm just being thick this morning.

I have a couple of these kits and determined after talk with the manager at my local Woodcraft store, that the little center band and two blanks could be replaced with a shortened Sierra sized blank. The reason that I have not turned the kits that I had were the double blanks being so short.

However, after learning that I could use a 27/64 blank of a similar size to the Sierra family I will be turning them.

I know that this does not answer the question. However, what I saw when I looked at the instructions is that parts E, G, F, and H can be assembled as one unit and then pressed into the tube. The end cap presses onto the transmission which screws into the E,G,F,H assembly.

On these kits where the nib can be unscrewed to replace the refill, I use a drop of super glue to hold the transmission threads tight. This prevents the transmission from unscrewing if the customer turns the end cap to far when retracting the refill into the pen body.

That's basically what the Berea instructions for the Pensar say to do. Either approach should work, but I would probably go with the Pensar instructions also.

Actually, they say to press the non-threaded adapter into the pen, then press the clip assembly into it. But I'm afraid if I do it that way, it might push the adapter deeper into the tube and not go into the adapter deep enough. I know that sounds confusing, but I know what I'm trying to say.

As I read steps 5 & 6 of the Berra instructions, I interpret it to say to first press the adapter onto the clip assembly then press that whole assembly into the tube. I believe that's the approach you are wanting to use, so I'm confident you'll be fine doing that.

Boy, those are short bodies. I use a so-called "gate" jig to hold the blanks when I trim them. I had to make a spacer to raise them high enough.
