Very nice work.

Is your lathe long enough to turn it in one piece? How did you attach the handle? I make a lot of canes that I sell and always looking for new ideas (to steal).

Yes...turned a tenon & inserted in drilled hole in handle Please feel free to steal any ideas you wish..the picture is lame of this cane.. it really looks great with a pineapple pillow type spiral...

if you plan to turn a 36 inch (or so) cane you will absolutely, positively need a steady rest...

If you could somehow figure out how to make the bottom removable, you could hollow the bottom out. Then you could insert chalk, take the kids or grand kids outside and draw on the drive way or sidewalk.

since there are no driveways or sidewalks in the wilderness, I have decided to skip that modification..but arsinut, please continue to suggest new experimental ideas
