Are you talking about the little tool rack that's mounted on the tailstock?I looked over my 1216 - The only screw I found that looks like that is on the little tool rack that is mounted on the front of the lathe, on the right side. There are actually 2 screws holding that little rack in place.
Unfortunately it's not from there, both screws are there.Sorry for the delayed response. Yes, that is the tool rack I am talking about.
It's straight slotted. I looked at the schematics and so far.i haven't seen it.Is the screw a Phillips or straight? Can't quite tell from your photo.
I went and checked that screw is in place. I'm stumped. It looks like screws I removed in the past that would hold a cover or a shroud of some sorts in place.
Is this it?

I've looked it over from top to bottom, including the Laguna stand. Looked at the schematic for the lathe and the stand and I don't see anything either. I have seen no other screws that are straight slotted. I can't imagine it coming from another tool, as I was using the lathe when I heard it hit the floor, but I'm at a loss. Thanks for looking your lathe over.I went over my 12l16 from top to bottom, looking inside the headstock, under the ways, etc. and don't see any straight slotted screws. I also went over the parts diagrams in the manual. Nothing there that I can see.
I did notice in your earlier post about tool organization that you have the Laguna base for your lathe (I have a lathe stand I repurposed from an old Nova Comet). Is it possible the screw came from the base or the tool rack?
Hang onto the screw just in case. 5 years from now you may find out where it came fromI've looked it over from top to bottom, including the Laguna stand. Oh yeah, I put it in a little plastic bag and hung it on my pegboard. LOL with a note included as to what machine I think it came from.Hang onto the screw just in case. 5 years from now you may find out where it came from![]()
