Just turned a few wine glass bases for xmas gifts. Trying to deecide what finish to use. Is laquer water resistant enough to use on something like3 this or should I go with polyurethane?

It is the alchol that will ruin a lacquer finish Go with the poly.

Lacquer is resistant to water and alcohol. It is shellac that will not with stand alcohol. Shellac in devolved by alcohol.

Your font seems okay to me - perhaps, your Browser's font settings are askew?

Which font are you using, and what size have you selected (e.g., Arial), in the Reply Box (e.g., 2)?
