Hello all, did not know where to post this so here goes. I was wondering if anyone has a site that explains hollow forming, specifically making a barrel type holder for pens and pencils. I found an old wood barrel, about 5" tall by 3" dia, at the goodwill the other day and it is the perfect size for pens and pencils. It is made of a soft wood but I do not think it is pine. I am wanting to make another for a my mother. I am new to turning so I am guessing this would follow under generic hollow form guidelines and just make the design to suite my needs? Has anyone made one of these and if so, any suggestions on wood to use and technics, tools etc... Thanks for reading and look forward to your replies.
