Working on finishing a blank of hard maple. Has light color and fine grain that is outstanding. Sanded to: 240, 320, 400, 600, 1000. Slick as glass; photo

. Have: CA, DIY friction polish, store bought friction polish. Your recommendations? No hurry as I want it to look good.

Came out great! Fit and finish in the antique brass fly fishing pen were perfect. BLO and four coats of thin CA. Photo attached. Sorry for shadows but SWMBO has taken over the front bedroom.

As an aside and I feel others will have found the same thing. The bushings on the instruction sheet show 0.480. I have gotten into the habit of measuring dimensions where the blank(s) will meet the components. Components for this kit were 0.492; stopped at 0.495 for wiggle room.
