Went to vist some folks this morning that we had meet at a woodworking site. He had said something about some wood that could make nice blanks. so you know me----ROAD TRIP---
Not kidding----in a pile of junk wood piled ready to burn---I heard a little voice---Save me Save me
There was this little 150 lb slab of wood that has been tossed---there had been a band mill in sawing up lumber and this stupid knot---aka burl--was in the way so it got trashed
It is water logged and I do not know how it will dry but it is Box Elder. I will keep you posted if it is worth cutting up.
Here is a pick of the poor thing.

If you look at a map----Lexington to Danville to Liberty then 17 miles south and you would of been here.
Maybe next time you will be able to stop---of course I do not know about that corned beef----I may get the urge. LOL

The good---bad--and ugly----the burl aint really a burl. The wood is to soft for pen planks--- with very little red.
I went with big bowl blanks instead----maybe they will dry and be worth turning.
Some times the stuff that follows you home----I should of drove faster.
