First Stopper / Mystery Wood

My first bottle stopper, turned from a stick of wood found in the shop. Trouble is I can't remember what kind of wood this is. Anyone recognize it? It had a spicy smell as I was turning it if that helps narrow it down.

I agree... it's from the rosewood family.

I looked at some of my pens and Brazilian rosewood looks very identical to that in my opinion.

The occasional lighter streaks make it resemble rosewoods to me too!

Thanks for the info and encouragement guys! I'm hoping to get back out in the shop this weekend. I've got a couple more ideas to try. (and some Christmas gifts to make)

The spice smell is an indication of Cocobolo to me... don't think the rosewoods are spicey, more of a sweet smell.
