Big Vise

I have been working on this project for several months. First I bought the vise off ebay----then I sent it out to a machine shop. I wanted a tall set of jaws to center pen blanks. This vise weighs about 60lbs, jaws are 2 3/4 tall and about 6 1/2 wide. Nothing flexs or gives---you can lock a blanks in place.

Cool project. Are the blocks aluminum? That's a nice looking snakewood blank too and by the looks of your vise, it isn't going anywhere you don't want it to.[] I hope your back is better than mine. I couldn't lift that.

60lbs?!? [:0] Have you checked for deflection on the DP table?

The blocks are steel---I told my machinest to use something that he had on hand----blocks are one inch thick---the slot is 5/8----I am going to sand blast the vise and give it a good paint job----one of these days.
Right now I am sooooooo far behind --- we are only 12 weeks away from our first show of the year.
