Finally got ambitious with my 4 day weekend and cut and drilled a bunch of cigar pens. Went to insert the tubes, and found out I used the wrong drill bit[:0]
Put them back into my new PH vise and re-drilled with correct bit.
They came out perfectly centered, and no deflection like with my old WC vise.:D
Thanks Paul!!!!! You saved me a bunch of blanks.

Ron,

Funny you should post this as I just returned from the shop and had the same thing happen. Only difference is that I just did one [:D] Paul's vice pulled me thru as it never even happened

The Paul Huffman Vise. A little bit of searching in this forum will give you all the info you need.

BTW, welcome to the IAP. Hope you have a good credit line![}:)][:D]

Thank you all for the help! I certainly like the open side. Being that it is driven and the guides are all on the same side, do you encounter any diflection?

Thanks, Tom

I haven't encountered any deflection at all. Thats with everything from cedar to hard maple.

BTW, after reading this thread yesterday I went back into the shop to drill some Sierra blanks. Guess what? ..... Looks like I'm going to have to rely on the PH Vise to enlarge that hole from 10mm to 27/64.[V]
