2024 IAP 20th Anniversary BASH: Prettiest Wood Contest Rules

Get ready for this year's prettiest wood contest for the BASH! PLEASE READ ALL OF THE INSTRUCTIONS!

This will be a contest for a pen that you turned and finished from a single piece of wood. Every forum member is eligible to enter this contest. Please limit entries to one submission per person.

To be eligible for this contest you must be the one who turned and finished the pen being submitted for voting. The choice of materials and equipment used is up to you but you MUST be the one doing the turning and finishing. All submissions must be finished pieces.

Entries for the Prettiest Wood Contest will be accepted starting February 1, 2024 and will end February 16, 2024 at 11:59 pm EST. There is ample time to create your pieces so there will not be exemptions granted for submission beyond the deadline.

How to Enter:

To enter you must submit photos of your completed piece and some personal information for the shipping of prizes to the winners of the contest. The details of what is required with your submission is listed below in the contest rules.

Please take the time to read the rules thoroughly to ensure you understand everything involved. Reach out to me directly, via PM, if you need clarification on any of the rules.

Use this link to submit your entries: TBD

How winners will be determined:
  • Polls will be created for you and your peers to vote.
    • This competition category tends to have the most submissions overall so there can be a lot of pens to vote on.
    • Each forum member will be allowed to cast a specified number of votes per voting poll based on how many pens are submitted.
  • If there are 20 or LESS entries, a single poll will open from February 19th and run until February 23rd.
    • Each member will be able to cast 3 votes for this poll.
    • The top 3 vote recipients from the poll will be the winners and they will be announced on February 25th.
  • If there are 21 or more entries the first polls will run from February 19th until February 23rd. The top pens from those polls will be combined into a single, final poll to be voted on from February 25th to the 28th.
    • The submitted pens will be divided by intervals of 20 for the voting polls during the first week. If there is an odd number of submissions, they will be divided between polls as evenly as possible based on the interval of 20.
    • The pens will be put in polls based on the order in which the submissions were received.
    • If there are two polls, each member will be able to cast 5 votes. If there are three polls, each member will be able to cast 4 votes. Should there be four or more polls, each member will be able to cast 3 votes. The number of votes allowed will be posted with the polls when they are opened.
    • The second week shall be a single poll of the winning pens from the first week of polls and each member can cast 3 votes in this poll.
    • The top 3 vote recipients from the poll will be the winners and they will be announced on February 29th.
All contestants must comply with the Universal Contest Rules in addition to the following rules.
