Rick, after years of wanting one, I bought your offset sanding jig. I cannot believe I waited so long. The tool works wonderfully and is so much faster and better than even my coveted Nolan carbide pen mill.

One of my favorite parts is I don't have to stop and pull the blank out and see if it is close to the brass tube. When the brass touches the sandpaper it makes a very distinctive sound, when I hear that sound I know it is done.

You will save money by buying this sanding jig! Think of the blanks you have ruined with a pen mill.

Right angle tool rest.

Rick, I am looking for a right angle tool rest on a 1" post. The outside dimension of each side should be 5" and the post connected at the intersection of each direction. (at the bend) I would like to have this using your round stock.

PM me if that is possible to do. Rich

I've ordered stuff from Rick several times, and I must say that the tools he makes are fantastic! This year, as I'm diving into kitless work, I've realized that I needed shorter tool rests. The two that I bought from Rick showed up very quickly, and they are exactly what I needed!
Thanks Rick for what you do for the IAP!

Both my sanding mill and offset jig arrived incredibly quickly, and after using them both today, can't say enough good words about them. They definitely streamlined my work flow! Thanks!

I ordered a tool rest a few weeks ago and I cannot say enough good things about it. My tools slide effortlessly across the rest and it has made my turning so much easier and more efficient than with the stock rest.

I wouldn't hesitate if you're thinking about ordering one. They're top-notch quality and well worth the price.

Thanks Rick!

Rick,
Thanks for the terrific job on the tool rests you made for my lathe. They are a work of art, it seems almost a shame to use them, but I will :) Turn around time was extremely fast and I really appreciate that.

Thanks again,
Larry

I have a question about your flat top tool rests. Are they a specific length, or do we select a length? I didn't see that info on that section.

Thanks,

Dennis

Hi Rick, I saw your tools for the first time today and have to have one of the Offset Lathe Sanding Jigs. I sent you a nice long PM and would like to get this in the works and heading my way soon. This stuff looks like some real quality work and you have a great reputation floating around on here and FaceBook. I hope to be able to add some nice comments to that reputation real soon.

One thing I just thought of and didn't include in my PM is, my lathe has an outboard turning spot that was originally used to make bowls. It has a threaded end and I still have the tool rest and stuff that the original owner put on it. I haven't gotten good enough yet to have had to need it all. I wonder if there is some way to adapt your sanding jig to be mounted on this side of the lathe and left there to be used when needed. I will try and take a pic of what I have and hopefully we can discuss it later.

Hello Rick - I would like to order one of your DEDICATED DI holders. I have a Jet 1642 and the measurement from the top of the banjo to the center line on the head stock is just under 6 inches.

I will be using Paypal so please let me know the total charges.

Thanks - Dave

Just wanted to let everyone who visits here know that Rick and I have exchanged several emails in the last few days and he is building me a custom post that will fit in the banjo on the outboard turning side of my lathe. He already has sent me his sanding jig and it took a couple times for me to get him the correct measurements for the post. I first just sent him what I thought were the correct measurements but he made a nice little drawing and I had to modify my thinking to fit his design. We got it all right this morning.

I intend to put this setup on the outboard side of my lathe and leave it there until I get good enough to start making some big bowls when I might need that side for that. I am really tired of messing up nice blanks, I screwed up two Amboyna blanks last week -- good thing they were short. After I get this all set up it should save me a bunch of time because changing setups is one thing that eats up a lot of my turning time. I intend to use it to square blanks before turning and I see no reason why I couldn't slide the blank back on it after turning to clean it up and get rid of the excess CA.

Hopefully I will be able to post a couple pics when its all working. Most importantly I want to thank Rick for taking the time to work with me on this, I'm anxious to get it running!:)

Hello Rick,
I'm wanting to give a go at a kitless pen and it looks like I'm going to need your die holder and threaded pen holder. Now, of course I also need taps and dies. Could you or someone here recommend what size I should start with and who I should buy from. Thanks for any input.

Rick,

Got my Offset and Sanding mill 2.0 this week and was able to use them both this morning. The craftsmanship was as expected and the tools made quick work of my projects. Thanks for fast responses and equally fast shipping. Looking forward to many cleaner and quicker builds thanks to your tools.

Rick, I wanted to post a pic of my custom sanding jig but it appears that photobucket no longer allows folks like me to use their service to post pictures in forums. A lot of the stuff I have done on other forums has just up and disappeared and I'm not very happy about it as are many other folks as well.

The custom sanding jig is working real well and so far everything is AOK with it, I like it!

Anyone that isn't using Ricks pen truing jig is out of their mind. He designed this for me and I have not made a single pen without using it since. Makes the old pen mill obsolete. Awesome tool and a great design by Rick. I have the original proto-type Rick is an awesome machinist.

Thanks Mike!!

Mike's correct, he's the one that started all of this.:biggrin::biggrin:

As I remember, he contacted me and asked if I could make him something to sand blanks on his lathe because he didn't have a disc sander. I told him I would think about it and get back to him. Well, the idea for the design just sort of came to me out of nowhere and within 30 minutes I had a CAD (cartoon aided drawing) for him and as they say, the rest is history!

I own 3. Love them! (the offset sanding type) and about 6 of his tool rest (flat and round).
