Wooden Rosebud

I went to Woodwerks here in Columbus today and they have a box of wood blocks in the back that they sell by the pound. I bought this wood but have no idea what type it really is. I decided to make a wooden rosebud for my girlfriend. I went to the local Old Time Pottery and bought a bundle of silk roses and just replaced the flower with my wooden one. She loves it and that is all that matters I guess.
