Wood Faqs?

I am was trying to make info cards to go with my pens but there are some woods I can't find facts about. For example other then knowing Afzilia Xylay comes from Laos I can't find anything else much about it. Google did not help much in this case.

I know about http://www.hobbithouseinc.com/personal/woodpics but they don't have info sheets on most of the wood.

Any other good sources for Exotic Wood info?

Penn State Ind. has a wood info section in .PDF format, only about 12 species, but those are ones we use frequently. It's at http://www.pennstateind.com/library/ID-CARDS-all.pdf

At first I though you were looking for wood cigarettes.[]

If you look sometimes on the pages of the wood supplier, there are good identifications as well (Woodcraft, CSUSA, etc). Sometimes you have to alter the spelling as the correct one is not always used, or sometimes you need to simplify the search and type just "Afzilia" and not add the xylay part.

It would be cool if those cards covered more types of wood. Of the last group of pens I made only Bocote and Cocobolo were on the cards.
