Yesterday was like Christmas for me  I had a nice big delivery of some awesome wood and then I got to pickup some new shop toys!

Ya know what they say about idle hands....well mine spent some money:eek::redface: I've had WAY too much free time since busting my thumb up (it is doing much better now and I'm slowly getting back in the groove!).

Here's some of the eye candy that was delivered yesterday.

Malaysian Blackwood: really cool endgrain!

Several Amboyna Burl slabs:

There's also a cool piece of Philippine Ebony burl but I couldn't get a good photo of it.

Now for the tools/toys! I've been keeping an eye out for a metal lathe for some time now. I just happened to check my local craigslist and a guy nearby just posted one for sale. Well...it was for a metal lathe with extra tooling AND a Mill!!! $500 for everything so I jumped on it and picked it all up yesterday. The lathe is 7 x 10 which I know isn't the most ideal but it should work just fine for the small pieces I'm looking to make right now. Before I can use them though I have to clear some room in the shop (plus clean it!) and then build another workbench to hold it all. Can't wait to spin some metal!

Jonathon, those tools are much too heavy for a man in your condition to be trying to handle. Just send them my way and I will do my best to clean them up and store them for you to pick up at a MUCH latter date!:rolleyes::biggrin:

nice, I want a metal lathe and end mill for gunsmithing...

Need a lathe to turn down barrels for some of the AK 47 builds I do.

I never seem to get the timing right on craigs list...

Nice Stash Jonathon! I'm liking the pen blank holder in the background next to the mill. great idea for whatever it was

Thanks Seamus, I found that at walmart a while back. I use it for organizing prepped blanks and also for drying tubes that have been spraypainted. Works great and can hold any size tube.

Nice haul man. Is that the wood from Ebay that you mentioned yesterday? That is some beautiful wood.

It is . Hard to get it for the right price but when you can....GO for it!

Huh. I thought you were allergic to wood. Seriously, nice haul.

Lol...not actually allergic Allan. I just prefer PR most of the time...which is weird since I started out hating all acrylics and would only turn wood when I first got into turning.

Sweet! Maybe I should bust up MY thumb!!! (The only way I'd be allowed to spend the cash is if my better half felt sorry for me! Not really, she's GREAT!)

Those blanks are Grade A-number one. Tools are great to compliment them. I also found the "blank holder" at Joeanns . They are bobbin or spool holders. Great to cold-deck your blanks for future use.
