Yesterday was like Christmas for me  I had a nice big delivery of some awesome wood and then I got to pickup some new shop toys!
Ya know what they say about idle hands....well mine spent some money
 I've had WAY too much free time since busting my thumb up (it is doing much better now and I'm slowly getting back in the groove!).
Here's some of the eye candy that was delivered yesterday.
Malaysian Blackwood: really cool endgrain!
Afzelia Xylay 2-Tone:
Several Amboyna Burl slabs:
There's also a cool piece of Philippine Ebony burl but I couldn't get a good photo of it.
Now for the tools/toys! I've been keeping an eye out for a metal lathe for some time now. I just happened to check my local craigslist and a guy nearby just posted one for sale. Well...it was for a metal lathe with extra tooling AND a Mill!!! $500 for everything so I jumped on it and picked it all up yesterday. The lathe is 7 x 10 which I know isn't the most ideal but it should work just fine for the small pieces I'm looking to make right now. Before I can use them though I have to clear some room in the shop (plus clean it!) and then build another workbench to hold it all. Can't wait to spin some metal!
