We heard a noise, like heavy furniture sliding across the deck last night. Did'nt last long. So, go to sleep, investigate tomorrow (Saturday).
When I got up, after my first cup of coffee, threw on some clothes and checked the outside. Didn't take long!!
OUCH< that left a mark!!!!
What we heard was the tree bouncing off the roof and landing behind the house, obliterating the deck. Looking from the back toward the house, I saw a "Saturday job" had developed:
AS you may realize, Dawn and I rarely see the house--we spend seven days a week at the office, so I don't really "plan" home maintenance time--this project could not wait, the wind was NOT that strong last night, so a HEAVY wind could have shifted the tree into our dining room---
My 16 inch, 35 year old chainsaw seemed overmatched, so I got a nice new, 20 inch and accomplished a lot, working alone. Here is the scene Saturday afternoon, when I quit for the day:
Of course, there is a pile of crotch, potential burl and other "maybe pen blanks"--you may hear about that in the next few months!!
No real harm done, just changed my "Saturday at the office making the weekly email" into "Saturday at the house, weakly tree trimming!!!!
The email WILL go out tomorrow and the tree will be finished. Anyone in the area (Sturtevant, WI) need firewood???
