Have seen this burl and others like it in their shop.

I'm lucky enough to live an hour from Hearne's and get to poke in the "scrap" pile once in a while when in the neighborhood...(eg. got an ebony board 2.5 lbs. for $25. should last a long time if used carefully.)

Let's see, if we do a group buy, how many blanks can we get out of it?

Big Rob, maybe we can go in on this together, since you're close too.

Hey Mark, if you like it, how about having it shipped to you, cut up into smaller pieces, and then shipped back to everyone else. Seems to me like that would be the cheap way to do it! [:D][:D]

Joe,
Man, my wife would kill me. I was there Saturday with the guy who bought that huge purple padauk slab. It was only $200.00. Dario is the burl guy here (among others). I like the exotic woods and figured stuff. Plus, I like something I can actually pick up.[:D] I do have deep pockets, but they're full of lint. See ya at the next turner's meeting.

Don,
Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack your thread.
Rob

Dan,
Things are very expensive at Hearne's.

Ok I'm still fairly new to website.
I just had to click on the link. Figured the burl was spendy but not out of this world price.
I looked at the price and dang near had a heart attack!!!!!!!![:0][xx(]

I bought a atv(quad) to play in the back country and sand dunes for that price.

think i need to be in the wood growing business.

In my estimation...that block will yield around 1,000 blanks of 13/16" sq x 5.5". At $5,000 that is $5.00 a piece not including shipping to the buyer of the block. Very nice but I'll pass...even for group buy [;)][}:)]
