I got a jet 1014vsi at my local Woodcraft store last weekend.
I've used it about a dozen times over the past week and initially it was almost silent, just a faint whirling sound at any speed, but it's started to make a "tick-tick-tick" sound that corresponds to the rpm rate.
I've had a couple catches that have stopped the rotation of my work and resulted in a screeching sound for a split second, and once I (idiotically) turned the lathe on with the indexing bolt screwed in and got the same noise for a split second, so maybe I did something bad?
The noise definitely is coming from the motor area-- it happens regardless of which belt postion and even if I take the belt off. I thought maybe I got a wood chip down there near the shaft but I don't see anything.
Any ideas? I guess I can just press on since it seems to work fine and it's under warranty of course.
Thanks, Mitch
