I have a jet 1014 VS with the stock tool rest. The paint has come off and I think that might be the start of the problem but not the cause of the funkyness.
The left side of the rest has developed serious gouges that are causing a rough turning experience. This only happens with the skew and the gouges are getting worse. Here is the funkyness:
There are no burs on the edge of my skew. I rubbed a paper towel on it and nothing caught. I even ran the wire wheel over the corners and edges. There is nothing on the Skew that could cause these gouges in the rest. What is going on?
