I have made a few hybrid pens, but kept the threaded sections resin only because I'm not sure if stabilized wood can be threaded. Can it be threaded and if so, any tips for successful threading?

I've had no success threading wood (stabilized or natural).

I believe others have, using thread cutting jigs (such as from Chefware Kits). I don't know of anyone using standard taps and dies.

Thanks, that is what I suspected but wished wasnt true. I bought a piece and cut some threads using my 10mm die. I took the threads, but wat to crumbly to trust. I've seen others make resin under sleeves

I have done threads in wood, using a single point tool on a Sherline lathe. The Sherline has a hand crank for the manual machines for threading, allowing for very small cuts at a slow rate. It also helps if you put a small amount of thin CA in inbetween every pass. The CA is absorbed into the wood and helps keep it together.
