I am sure there is probably a chart hidden somewhere that I am not aware of....(it is not on the Starrett Chart) I have a 5mm bock trible nib assembly. What are the tap drill sizes for a 5mm tap and 9mm tap?

Phillip, it depends on the threads. For example, if the tap is a 9mm x 1mm then the drill size is 8mm (really more like 8.2). If it's 9mm x .75, then the drill size is more like 8.4.

For special taps for nibs, I usually go to Silver Pen Parts, but I use Meister nibs & feeds. I think you want the tap from The Classic Nib.

Hope this helps

start with a 9/32 for the #6 and a C drlll bit for the #5 size if the c is to sloppy try a B

Typically on metric threads you take the thread diameter and subtract the pitch. This might be tighter that you want for a pen but that is for metal working. So a 10 mm x 1.25 would be an 8.75 mm drill. That is the quick and easy of metric threads. Many times through letter and number drill bit options you can be within a few thousandths of the correct size.
