Had an idea to turn some wine stave pens. Made a quick blank and turned it it was meah! good color kinda liked it . Wandered what would happen if i segmented it 12 pieces of 15 Degree pieces without loosing any fingers. Here it is glued up will. I know it is a little out of sorts on the pattern colors this is just to see if i can get the segmenting good enough to turn. Let me know your thoughts or any ideas, Quick jigs and nothing to precise at this time will dial it in if i like the direction . Thoughts on stabilizing it?

I have a bit of experience here...

1. Slice each end off so you can see the middle point.
2. Turn barely round.
3. Drill your tube hole in a collet chuck (if you have one); or a jawed pen chuck on your lathe. Slow, cool the drill, slow... Don't want to melt your glue (DAMHIK). If the glue melts it will blossom like a plant! 🤣
4. Glue in your tube and use very, very sharp tools. (No suggestion to think of a higher power, but praying may help now 🙏 ).

I'm looking for more pictures of my process, but not having success now. I'll revisit this in the AM - I have tooooo many pictures to sort through. I believe the link was from 2/23/2021 when I constructed this blank.

EDIT: A similar blank with the angled construction. Scroll to the last photo - the rest is boring... 🤣
