Maybe I'm too old, but when I was a kid and we went to the butcher shop there were always guys missing thumbs, fingers, or part of a finger. All directly relatable to their bandsaw. Watch how most people push material through a bandsaw, their fingers/thumb are directly in line with the blade.
 
I have yet to see a detailed video on exactly how this technology works on a bandsaw. So far all I see it stops the blade dead in it's tracks. Now you know as with the tablesaw that the blade is shot. Does it stop the motor also because if not then you wear the tires down and the bearings can not like it either. Smaller blades will definetly break so that could be a concern. I think the new Harvey tools coming out have better ideas. As with a tablesaw common sense and awareness are key factors when operating any power tool. The SS bandsaw is suppose to come out mid 2027 so hurry get on that waiting list. LOL.

Harvey which I mentioned is a huge up and coming tool manufactorer that is making top notch tools and blowing away Festool as well as sawstop. They will have a tablesaw that is going to come out that has finger touch shut down technology but does not stop blade and and need a replacement cartridge. It too has not revealed all the details but the saw is loaded with technology and features they are calling it the Dream Saw. Their prices are high but looks like you are paying for technology. I've thought Harvey made really high end (expensive Chinese) tools but, here is a turning influencer I subscribe to Tomislav Tomasic Harvey T-40 Review and why he's returning it. He used it for a period of time and even got replacement parts from the manufacturer for the issue he was having.
 
I like a lot of the 'improvements' they have developed, the way you adjust the roller guides, the built in light and better dust collection (looks like you need a strong dust collector system) but, the stopping mechanism? Not really sure how needed that is especially at what the additional cost to the unit it will add. Table saws, yeah, I see the need but, on a band saw?

yes but also damages the blade and you have to buy new cartridge and blade everytime it happens. I know they allow certain freebies too. But with Harvey it is a sensor before the blade and it drops the blade Not sure if it shuts motor off. This is all new. Bosch had a similar system to SawStop but the blade was not grabbed by a break. It dropped down and the cartridges were easier to replace. You got like 3 or 4 that looked like shotgun shells. But SawStop sued them and they are not allwed to sell their saws that have that technology here in the USA.

He did not run the lathe. Would love to hear what it sounded like. Every tool is not made for everyone in any brand. Their tools are made in many places including Tawain, China and many locations here in the USA. It looked like it has some cool features.

How and why would you use for them for Bandsaw work? Just asking!
Cutting thin strips and also resawing. They keep constant pressure against the fence. When you push boards through a bandsaw you constantly move your right hand as the board is being pushed. This elliminates that part. Same on a tablesaw. They make 2 different sizes. They also stop kickback because they are directional. The bearing rolls only one way. You can change the direction by flipping over. They basically are an expensive featherboard.

The biggest danger with bandsaws is pushing wood through the blade. just like a tablesaw, a push stick is needed but for some reason people feel no need for that and use fingers. Now if the blade is dull they push harder. if there is a hard spot in the wood they push harder and then all of a sudden it lightens up and the finger gets cut. A bandsaw blade can do as much damage as a tablesaw blade very quickly especially if resawing with those larger blades.

There is a 3 video set of when he initially received the lathe with set up and turning samples, then a second video of what he did to repair with their replacement parts and then demonstrating the sound it was and still is making.

FYI, Tomislav has been turning for a while and is a student of Richard Raffan, his Mentor, this is not his first lathe. In the last two years I have been watching he has brought in 4 different lathes that have been sent to him to use and review.
