Sandpaper help.

I seem to run out of 400 and 600 grit sandpaper rolls before I use up the other lower grit rolls. I have been unable to locate a vender selling only the 400 and 600 grit rolls....and well..I don't want to buy a pack containing the grits I already have too much of. Anyone know of any place to buy the 400 and 600 grit rolls?

Jeff, just a suggestion, you could buy several sheets of 400 and 600 grit, cut them into 3/4" or 1" strips then cut the strips in half or whatever length you like. The sheets are far easier to find than the rolls and cost a LOT less.

If you insist on rolls, I'm guessing Klingspore has them.

a quick check on ebay under "400 sandpaper roll " brings up 27 entries. http://www.onlineindustrialsupply.com/index.html has a large range of grits available under shop/plumber rolls

I'm not positive but I think Woodcraft has individual rolls.

Barney, yes -- slow speed grinder in the photo. I stored it there for lack of floor/benchtop space -- I never operated the grinder bolted on the lathe. Grinding is messy IME so I do it outside when possible. I've since sold some stuff and moved the grinder.

I have a disc sander in that spot now and I do operate there because I can capture most of the mess with the vacuum. Here's photo of current setup:

We have a couple woodshows a year here that are close enough to drive to. I usually get enough to last me at the show including sheet paper up to 12000 grit eliminating the need for micromesh.
