I've been browsing through the artstuf.com catalog, and I see they have a "nitrocellulose lacquer" - and I'm wondering if this is a suitable alternative to MCSS? The cost is pretty low, particularly if you are ordering casting supplies.
chop n paste:
NITROCELLULOSE LACQUER: Cellulose nitrate was one of the first plastics to be
synthesized and this is one of the first synthetic coatings to be used on a commercial basis.
Easy to use and quick drying, this coating can be used on all kinds of surfaces from plastic to
wood. It's possible to recoat a nitrocellulose lacquered surface every 20 minutes or so to build
up a nice thick, high gloss coating.
1 pint.........................CC-1019........................$4.45*
1 quart.......................CC-1020.......................$7.95*
