My Boxer dog died today at the age of 7yrs. I had since she was 6 months old. I was out mowing lawn for one of my clients when my wife called me and told Sassy had really bad seizure and she was taking her to the vet. Sassy died on the way to the vet. She was such a big baby. Well really miss her. But have plenty of pictures of her and memories. Here is a picture of her.

A sad day indeed. It's hard to lose a good friend, but even harder to lose a family member. Keep the memories.

Sorry to hear of your losing Sassy. I lost my Taco (boxer/ridgeback mix) this past May 31. Over the years they become such a part of the family. Taco was 12-1/2 and I had him since he was a month old (his mother was dying). No offense to people who have dogs that aren't boxers, but boxers are the best in so many ways. At least you have tons of memories and pictures. My condolences.

Hi Craig; While it's never easy to lose one of your babies, I would prefer they pass away on their own rather than me sitting there while the vet administers euthanasia!

Think only of the pleasures she brought you for the 7 years you enjoyed her!

Sorry to hear of your loss Craig, I feel for you as I have had two pass away at the age of 16 years. We have no pets at the moment except for the neighbours that I can give back. We did not want to go through the heartbreak again.

Craig - I am so sorry for your loss. We lost our "baby girl" (our bullmastiff) in February during emergency surgery. My consolation is the 13 wonderful years of companionship and total love that Denise and I were able to share with Ripley while she was with us. Our four-leggers are our family and they enrich our lives so much. Matthew

[SIZE=+1]I'm so very sorry to hear of your lose, its a terrible thing to go through. I have many times and its never easier, sometimes this helps people.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Craig I'm sorry to hear about loosing such a friend and companion, I know everyone has heard about the Rainbow bridge, but there's more to it.

Upon passing this earthly shell an old man met his faithful companion on the bridge then they strolled of down a old dusty road until the man spotted this great, grand and glorious place with Huge pearl colored gates and right inside was a solid gold fountain.
It was about then the old fellow realized that he and his dog had traveled a good distance and he knew he sure was thirsty and supposed his dog was as well. He walked up to this fine gate with the beautifully paved walkway and fountain inside, the fellow sitting at the desk said, welcome we've been expecting you. you look tired and thirsty friend won't you come in and join us, The old man started in the gate with his buddy following him, but the man at the gate said I'm sorry but there's no dogs allowed in here.
The old fellow looked shocked and said he's more than a dog, he's my friend, are you sure he can't come in, the gatekeeper just shook his head.
Well the old fellow said come on pardner we'll just keep a walking a while longer, They hadn't gone far, when they came up to this old farm gate and a rutted out road leading down to a well, the old man asked this farmer if he could have some water for him and his friend, the farmer said certainly.
The old fellow proceeded to tell him about the other place how heavenly it looked but how could it be heaven if they don't allow dogs in. Then a light came on above the farmer who said that was just Paradise friend, you and your dog are welcome here in Heaven, now go and drink your fill.

I don't remember where or when I heard this story, but for my money it can't be heaven with out dogs.

Craig,

So sorry for your loss. It is never easy, and I'm truly sorry you lost such a good friend unexpectedly, at an early age. Obvious to tell from her picture that she was a sweet dog. We have a Rottweiler that is a big softy, and they do hold a special place in your heart.

Graig - I am so sorry for your loss. I know what a difficult time this can be. We lost our first Dobie early and it took me quite some time before I could get another.

Reminds me of a saying fellow Oklahoman Will Rogers said "If dogs don't go to heaven, when I die I want to go wherever they went"

I am sorry to hear about your loss. Dogs are a big part of my life and they really are family members. I am glad that you have plenty of pictures and memories. There may be a boxer out there needing to be rescued, you can never tell.

Sorry for your loss...

We have 3 boxers and have lost 2 previously so I know how tough it is. They are our family and the house is so quiet and empty without them.

So sorry for your loss. As others have said you will always remember the good times and goofy things that your boxer did that made you laugh.

I'm really sorry about your loss. Boxers are such a wonderful breed with great personalities. My wife has never been much of an animal person, but our boxer won her over, and she even let her get on the couch with her. Something I wouldn't have approved of, and I'm by far and away the animal person in our house. We lost ours a few years back (almost the same circumstances as yours), and whenever we are around someone with a dog, my wife always compares theirs to Sadie (our boxer).

My thoughts are with you, and I'm glad you have a lot of pictures.

Craig, All I can say is I'm Very Sorry. Its been a bad week for us also. We lost our Dog Buddy on the 4th, He was a boxer Bloodhound mix. One of the best dogs I ever owned. He was 9 and had cancer for the past year. He was still chasing balls on Saturday.

Thank you everybody for the kind words and everything. I loss other dogs in my life. But Sassy was my baby this one really was hard to take. Never thought she would leave this soon. I know she is in very good place now & will never have anymore pain. R.I.P. Sassy.

Sorry to hear about your pet. I know the feelings and sadness. Lost my shop buddy at the end of June. I plan to get another one later this year. So far we have had 5 dogs and 1 cat in the family.

Craig,

I am so sorry to hear about your loss, my family has had dogs ever since I can remember and hate to say it but I never liked any of them. Our last big dog died 6 years ago and my wife made me go to the pound with her to look at another dog. I went and there was this rescued Boxer Lab mix that had lost a foot. Well we wound up bringing Peg home. I have never had a dog make me the center of her world like she has, it is going to kill me when she goes. For the last two years I have worked from home and she is never more than an arms reach away.

I really feel for you and I hope your grief and morning do not hurt more than necessary. As someone said at least she went on her own terms I can only pray for the same for Peg.
