Trying the worthless wood method with some scraps of Rosewood Burl and I'm having fits. It would appear that the resin in the wood is inhibiting the cure of the Polyester. The one I did yesterday appeared fully cured in the mold so I turned it over and tapped it out on the bench. The bottom was still essentially liquid. Left it to cure more and after three hours it was starting to peel away from the wood. Thought maybe some heat would help so into the toaster over at about 150 - disaster ! The PR peeled and curled away from the wood - total mess. Any ideas ? I took another chunk and am soakng it in acteone and getting lots of color leaching into the acetone.

I've had that happen when the wood I used still had bark inclusions. Everything was solid except where the bark was. I used dental picks to remove the bark and soft resin and then recast it with a different color.

Did yours have any bark still left? Otherwise, like glycerine said, add more catalyst.
