Here are a few items I have gifted out.
A couple friends had a baby thus this baby rattle made of Peruvian Mopani. Finished with a mix of orange peel oil and bee's wax.
This round lidded box (unknown wood, but VERY HEAVY and dense. Was told it was from south america by the neighbor who gifted me the piece) was the box I put my wife's engagement ring in when I proposed. Finished with mylands and then spray laquer.
This bowl was a scrap piece of black walnut I wanted to see what I could do something with. The organic looking pattern was a situation that I was told many wood turners call "uh... I.. uh.. meant to do that!" Thought it was a huge bite out of the wood, but when the lathe spun down to a stop this wonderful pattern was all that was in the wood. It is finished similar to the lidded box and was presented to my (then just about-to-be) mother-in-law at my wedding.
Comments and critics most welcome.
