I decided to make a good friend of mine a lever action for Christmas. I got the kit yesterday and opened it last night. Now I gotta wait to make it unless anyone knows a trick to fixing this? It looks like it should be soldered down at the front but there is nothing there that the scope broke off of?

I've never made one of these but if it's broken I'd get a hold of the seller and let them know. Replacement should be an easy thing based on what I'm seeing here.

The Lever Action Pen
This one of a kind beauty replicates a true lever action rifle. The scope acts like a pen clip. The hammer moves back when you pull the lever forward, the tubular magazine runs parallel to the barrel just like a real rifle, and you pull the lever to open the pen. This beauty can be made out of 24k gold, matte black, antique brass, antique pewter, or matte black. The blanks can be custom selected as well from a variety of wood or plastic.

Don’t know for sure. But could that be the pocket clip

YES, THAT'S IT !!! ....... see the red highlighting in the Product Description from the PSI product Webpage (copied below) ....

Product Description

From tip to end - our pen integrates all of the iconic lever action rifle elements into an easy to use writing instrument. And is the first and only Lever Action Pen Kit to replicate the true forward lever action mechanics of the rifle. Just push the lever down and forward to click and extend the refill and push it down and forward again to reliably click and retract the refill - just like the real thing. The handle symbolizes the classic form of the trigger and lever and easily slides forward to activate the mechanism. The first of its kind mechanism even incorporates a moving-hammer on the top of the back-end cylinder. The pen clip is modeled after a rifle scope. The pen tip depicts the rifleÕs barrel, front sight, muzzle and tubular magazine. The refill emerges through the muzzle when activated. The customizable blank-area becomes representative of the rifleÕs forestock. The lever handle accurately rests against the buttstock located on the pen's end. This kit does not include the metal gunstock (buttstock) on the pen's end. Instead, you get to create your own buttstock - so you can match the forestock blank material with the buttstock material (full instructions on how to do this are included with the kit). Includes a Parker style refill. 6 1/2in. long. Patent Pending

I've made about half dozen if them and not 1 has looked like this thing... but I guess we will say it's the clip and i will put it together and see if that fixes it... here is 1 of my finished ones for comparison. I modify the design to make it look more realistic.

Here's a pistol grip design and another straight grip.
