I am thinking about buying a powder coating plating system and wonder if it really will extend the life of less expensive plated pen components or for that matter make the better platings last even longer? If it would you could save some money on lesser expensive pen kits vs buying the higher end platings and it would make some kits feasible that aren't available in the better platings.
What is the best unit available (not necessarily the cheapest) for powder coating pen components.
I have a large air compressor so that part is not an issue for me.
How well does clear powder coating plate over the 10KT 24KT kits?
From what I have been reading it does not look all that difficult but I have a couple of questions (albiet stupid ones).
How do you prevent the nib from plugging while you do the coating?
How or what do you clip the negative charge to? (I am presuming the
part of the component that will be concealed after assembly)
How do you protect parts that you don't want to plate ?
Where is a good place to buy a small reasonably priced oven? Does a
toaster oven really work?
I am trying to avoid spending pitfalls before I get into this.
Any info will be greatly appreciated. Is there a how to sight or
book available on this.
My main concern is if this really looks professional over exisiting
platings when using the clear?
Any advice or need to know before I buy will be really appreciated.
You can't get too much advice or information so please speak right up.
Thanks
