This is my latest redwood burl bowl. It was turned form a throw away sapwood piece that had very little heartwood. The finish has not b een put on yet as it still has hours of snading and prepwork before that stage. It does have some sanding sealer on it. I just finished carving the bowl and had to share. I am thinking of finishing with lacquer in satin.

Bowl is approximately 7" diameter and 3" tall at its highest. Carving was done with a NSK dental drill. Wall thickness is about 1/16? I have never turned redwood this thin before. It was a bit scary.

Comments and crits welcome. As are suggestions.

Great job on turning a soft burl like redwood that thin. The piercing does a great job of framing the beautiful red interior. Well done!
