Final electrical inspection today for my panel upgrade!
When we bought the house, we thought it was 100 amp as it was a 100 amp panel, but it was fed through a fused shut off that I'm sure was 60 amp rated, with smaller wires than I would have liked for 100 amps, and there were a few double taps and other wiring in the panel that didn't look great to me.
I decided to be proactive and upgrade, and figured why not go to 200 amp instead, as the cost of the wire wasn't that much higher, and there'd be more capacity in the future when we add a garage.
So after a few quotes from the big companies for more money than I had, I decided to do the work myself. I bought and studied the code book front to back, bought the correct permits, and made sure to get it all inspected. He gave permission to energize last time, and now this was the final check.
(he even asked 'looks very good - who did this for you' at one point, before he started quizzing me back on my first inspection !)
Inspector just left - passed with flying colours! That's a big relief!
