I did not realize that was this weekend. Does it cost to get in? I would love to have a look around. Is there a link?
I don't know about you but pen turning became addicting to me 5 years ago and I wanted to know everything I could about pens, how they are made, what types are out there, how they work, etc. I attended a pen show in 2008 and was hooked and have attended as many as I could since. Aside from chatting with and selling my pens to people who know and appreciate what I am offering, it's nice not to have to answer questions like... "who'd pay that much for a pen?"Am I reading it right that it is just $5 to get in and look at pens and talk to people? Sounds like fun.
Is there anything that I as a run of the mill pen turner would get out of this? Or is it just a fun thing to see what people like about new and vintage pens?
That's just GREAT!.......Guess who was asked to assist Richard in the nib smoothing class?

I'll be there.theres a lot of pens to look at and buy.
I'm having flashbacks of the fourth grade and Ms Hubbard. During writing exercises she would walk around the class with an 18" wooden ruler and GOD pity the poor kids (one of them being me) who were writing left handed!
Seriously, sounds like a fun class, I'll bring a box of chocolate covered cherries and she'll be putty in my hands!

Oh we can dress her up like Sally Fields in the flying nun! That would bring nightmares.

If you are not a pen nerd yet, attending a pen show will help ease you over the edge!
All no the load of pens might make it header to get back home.it's all most across the road from me.
Well I doubt anyone will be hanging IAP signs but I hear there will be several pen makers there. If you happen to see a table covering similar to this one....... http://www.penturners.org/forum/f22/show-table-101870/ you have found me.......How do I find other IAP members? Would be nice to meet in person.
Just looking for someplace fairly close that is not a chain with some great food.
Mike, It looks to be 3.7 miles, hop on the freeway, hop back off and you're there. If you like Irish pubs this is a pretty good place:
Home - Mary Kelleys
I have eaten there several times and have not had bad food yet.

I also noticed that Jason's Deli is just down the street from the hotel, perhaps within walking distance. When I was still a worker bee in Ft. Worth, Texas, Jason's was one of my favorite places to eat lunch and I was never disappointed with their food.
.....+1 On Jason's, used to eat lunch at the Jason's on Camp Bowie in Ft. Worth when I lived in Arlington back years ago, and even though it's a large chain now the one in OKC still has the same good food as the one in Ft. Worth years ago. Great Rubin sandwiches...
I LOVE attending pen shows but there is one thing I absolutely HATE about them....... they run right through nap time! And that causes me to be on my best behavior in the late afternoon when I'd rather be a little cranky! Why these shows don't close down for a nap time, I'll never know! :wink:Is anyone from SW Florida going? Maybe I can hitch a ride? Take advantage of some free give away pens from my friends who sell at the shows :biggrin: Just kidding of course. I hope you all have a prosperous show. Don't eat to much at these restaurants now. You'll be wanting to take a nap. DAMHIKT![]()
