We will be there keeping George in line. We should be right on the other side of the registration table.

Oh and George, do I have some news for you!

Guess who was asked to assit Richard in the nib smoothing class?:devil::eek::devil::eek:

Am I reading it right that it is just $5 to get in and look at pens and talk to people? Sounds like fun.

Is there anything that I as a run of the mill pen turner would get out of this? Or is it just a fun thing to see what people like about new and vintage pens?

I don't know about you but pen turning became addicting to me 5 years ago and I wanted to know everything I could about pens, how they are made, what types are out there, how they work, etc. I attended a pen show in 2008 and was hooked and have attended as many as I could since. Aside from chatting with and selling my pens to people who know and appreciate what I am offering, it's nice not to have to answer questions like... "who'd pay that much for a pen?"

If you are not a pen nerd yet, attending a pen show will help ease you over the edge!

That's just GREAT! Now I won't be able to concentrate for fear of being whacked up side the head.

I'm having flashbacks of the fourth grade and Ms Hubbard. During writing exercises she would walk around the class with an 18" wooden ruler and GOD pity the poor kids (one of them being me) who were writing left handed!

Seriously, sounds like a fun class, I'll bring a box of chocolate covered cherries and she'll be putty in my hands!

Oh we can dress her up like Sally Fields in the flying nun! That would bring nightmares.

TMI, Mike, TMI......

I was thinking of going there Friday night after work. Saturday I work 8-7 and Sunday 8-6 so can't really go. Friday is 9-4 so hopefully that might work for a short trip.

Thanks. That's what I needed to hear. I have to travel this weekend so hopefully attending on Friday will still get me the same experience. :)

How do I find other IAP members? Would be nice to meet in person.

Well I doubt anyone will be hanging IAP signs but I hear there will be several pen makers there. If you happen to see a table covering similar to this one....... http://www.penturners.org/forum/f22/show-table-101870/ you have found me.

As I understand the arrangement, I will be the tall gent with babes to the left and right of me.

John it is on Nottingham between Chauncer and Highpoint-Glen. I looked it up and it is Gallo's Kitchen and Bar. A friend from Gahanna recommended the place, but the menu didn't look that great. Just looking for someplace fairly close that is not a chain with some great food.

George - Not sure about the tall thing, compared to who Linda? If we position you correctly you will have a blond and a brunette on either side of you.:biggrin::tongue:

No I not get over to that side of town sorry.but there is a lot of good places to eat around here everything from low end to high end

If you like Irish pubs this is a pretty good place:

Home - Mary Kelleys

I have eaten there several times and have not had bad food yet. :)

Mike, It looks to be 3.7 miles, hop on the freeway, hop back off and you're there.

I also noticed that Jason's Deli is just down the street from the hotel, perhaps within walking distance. When I was still a worker bee in Ft. Worth, Texas, Jason's was one of my favorite places to eat lunch and I was never disappointed with their food.

+1 On Jason's, used to eat lunch at the Jason's on Camp Bowie in Ft. Worth when I lived in Arlington back years ago, and even though it's a large chain now the one in OKC still has the same good food as the one in Ft. Worth years ago. Great Rubin sandwiches...

We have a lot of new places down in the old part of Dublin that are good.and the rusty bucket is also good. That not far from the show.

Roy you are just not right in the head. Do you really think sourkraute is a wise idea with the confines of a show booth

Yep, Camp Bowie was the one I ate at all the time too, small world.

My favorite was the "Beefeater" and a bowl of French onion soup!
Now I REALLY can't wait for Thursday!

I will not be there. D/C was my last show. Now it is many dealer shows until the end of the year. Just got some major news from one of my dealers that will keep me busy all thru November and December.
Everyone going to Ohio enjoy and have fun.

Is anyone from SW Florida going? Maybe I can hitch a ride? Take advantage of some free give away pens from my friends who sell at the shows :biggrin: Just kidding of course. I hope you all have a prosperous show. Don't eat to much at these restaurants now. You'll be wanting to take a nap. DAMHIKT :rolleyes:

I LOVE attending pen shows but there is one thing I absolutely HATE about them....... they run right through nap time! And that causes me to be on my best behavior in the late afternoon when I'd rather be a little cranky! Why these shows don't close down for a nap time, I'll never know!

Maybe you should set up a booth south of the border and take advantage of that siesta thing they have going on down there.:sleepy:

I'm thinking of going to the Pen Show after work tonight.
I work in Lewis Center so I'm about 5-10 minutes Northeast of Dublin.
I get off work at 4pm so may get there around 4:30 and hang out a few hours.
If I go I'll be big heavy bald guy wearing a green Mountain Dew hat. :)
