Hi, I'm Don Henshaw from Evans, Ga. and heard about IPA from the Woodnwhimsies email. This is one informative site that I hope to enjoy. I started making pens about 3 years ago and it seems addictive once in your blood. I started woodworking when I was a kid and now at 70++++ feel that I'm in my second childhood. Thats about it, Thanks for a wonderful association, Don

Welcome from about an hour northwest of you! I have a good friend that lives in Evans and get down there on occasion.

Below are links to two threads/articles that have lots of information on pen turning. The first one is a very basic overview of the many aspects of getting into turning pens.
http://www.penturners.org/forum/showthread.php?t=42446

The second link has postings by different pen turners and what they wish they had known earlier:

Here is another link - a PDF on the acronyms used here. I am sure you know many but this will help with those you don't.

Welcome Don! I'm about an hour over the border in SC. My cousin lives in Evans so I'm out there regularly visiting. Glad to see you on IAP, you will find lots of info to keep you occupied.

Don, Greetings 'neighbor' and Welcome to the Forum. If you can, be sure to visit with us at the next meeting at Woodcraft all the way over in - well near - Norcross/Roswell area just north east of Atlanta.

If you ever make it out to columbia, sc theres a pen club meeting at 1pm on the 1st saturday of each month at woodzone (www.woodzone.com for details). Theres also a turning club that meets in Evans, I'm just not sure about any of the details but I can ask around at my next meeting if you'd like.
