Introducing a new model I'm calling the Breaker. It's mostly hand sculpted with the lathe off. Lots of work and hand finishing going into this one. I have so much fun making it. :)

Great work Shawn. Do you mind telling us more about how you hand sculpt your new Breaker pen? Is it mostly with sand paper or do you have some special tools?

Okay, Shawn, I give up. I usually try to pick a favorite, but I can't narrow it down among several of these, I really like the non-standard shapes AND the peek-a-boo hint of color with the beautiful sections. The transparent work just blows my mind - the finish, inside and out, must have taken many hours.

Congrats on the whole collection!:)

Nice work Shawn. Your work challenges me. I really like what you do. I hope I can do some custom pens that are as half as good someday.

Hope going it full time is really working out for you.

Astounding work !!! . I have returned to look at these several times.

BTW, in the group of pictures 5, 6, 7, and 8, how many distinct pens are there ? . At least 3, I think; maybe 4 ?

If I am ever half this skilled, I'll consider my pen turning journey a success. The designs coming out of Shawn's are always genius.

Great set of pens! :)

Thanks!

Detail and workmanship aside each of these have their own personality.

:)

Wow, there is quite a bit of skill on display here! How do you finish and polish the insides of the barrels?

I use a split mandrel with sandpaper in it. I hold the mandrel in the chuck and go through a bunch of grits, then polishing compound with a rag in the mandrel.

Super creativity and originality, along with superb execution. Inspiring to view...NICE!

Thank you.

I use a file for the most part. Not as aggressive as a rasp, but a little more aggressive than your average bastard file. Then lots and lots of sandpaper.

I LOVE those pens !!!

wow! outstanding pens

Thanks!

Sure! Just keep at it. All it takes is time and practice.

There are 11 separate pens in all of those photos.
