I'm new to the site. I've posted a few pens under maxman400. maxman400 is my father and is the one who got me into turning pens. I haven't turned many but now that I'm here that should slowly start to change. I'm hoping to learn and experiment with new things as I go.

Welcome Michael! You certainly have a good start and some great help too!

I know you are way ahead of the game in pen turning compared to a new beginner and

Below are links to two threads/articles that have lots of information on pen turning, that several of us send out to all those that join. I know that you are ahead of the game and have probably already read those, but I didn't want you to feel left out, so I am posting them anyway.

The first one is a very basic overview of the many aspects of getting into turning pens.

The second link has postings by different pen turners and what they wish they had known earlier:

Here is another link - a PDF on the acronyms used here. I am sure you know many but this will help with those you don't.

Thank you everyone! I can only hope to get as good as my father and turn some magnificent pens for everyone to see. It's going to be a long road ahead. Hopefully one I can share with many of you.
