I found this project in an old scrollsaw magazine and decided to try it out. I could say I turned on my lathe but this place can only handle so much BS.
Made from mahogany.

Like any other piece of art or craft it just is.. It sits on the desk and allows one to contemplate the meaning of sawdust.

There's really not that much art involved, thanks for the kudos though. It's more a formula for cutting segments out of wedges of wood on a scrollsaw and gluing them up. Take a bit of patience to finish it with all the sanding, smoothing and varnish. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a way to do it with a bandsaw as well. And it all starts with laying a penny on the wood and tracing a semicircle on the edge.
