I need to make two pens with a music theme. I have made the piano key inlay from Kallen..?....something or other. I. Would like a lower cost idea.

I believe I've also seen Music Note Inlays, as well as G and Treble Clefs (don't remember seeing a Bass Clef...
) from any of the several laser inlay makers/vendors...
I also believe Jeff (masterscroller) made quite a few music themed blanks.
You could also do a segment of white/black acrylic to mimic a piano, or a segment of rosewood and aluminum bands and some dot inlays to mimic a fretboard...

To try and lower the cost sort of rules out other inlay blanks.
If you could find one of the casters who would do a printed paper wrap and cast in clear, that might do it if the price point is where you want to be.
Another thought is to turn a wooden blank and use clear decals printed with your music theme and then coat with CA.
Using the wooden blank idea, you could pyro your music onto the turned blank and then finish.

WOW! It has been quite a year for us. We thought we could live in a motor home and although it was once fun, the fun is gone. No more of that business. So I sold my beloved SSR truck for a down payment on our home. We moved in September. I just this week finished a work area in the garage and have gotten back into shows, thus this request. I have two music pen cases shaped like a guitar and need to put something musical in them for a 2/21/15 show at Lone Star College in Kingswood.
I am humbled that someone remembered me. You made my day. Thank you. :highfive:

How about some sheet music printed on parchment paper wrapped around the tube and cast in resin, stamps with busts of composers, stamps with the stones or beatles glued on tubes and cast. Just a few ideas.

I decided to go buy some decal paper, downloaded picture of piano key board and applied it to a piece of white Holly. So with cost of blank, 4 hours labor, Vertex kit and pen case it will be priced at $85.00.
