This past October, we had a storm that damaged almost every mature tree in the region.

This is some from a friends farm that was going to go to the burn pile.

nice haul.. I see some nice bowls in that Walnut.. I like working with Walnut.
not to hijack your gloat, but I got a little wood last month from an ELM tree I had to have taken down... it's lots of wood, but not free considering the cost of getting it down.

the pile is what I could move.. the rest is 18-20" dia.

That's a lot of "inexpensive" wood there Ozmandus.

The rest of the Walnut that those logs came from will be coming down in the spring. The tree was a "Y" trunk. One side of the "Y" came down splitting the wood well into the root ball, exposing the trees pith. Real shame, that tree was putting out some HUGE walnuts. And tasty too. The wood was so wet, that the sap was running down the driveway!![:0]

Need to ask Santa for a larger chainsaw.
