I know most everyone uses micro-mesh for finishing.
Has anyone tried the micro abrasives from Lee-Valley?
I see they have 5 micron which equals 1800 MM or 600 sandpaper.
They also have .5 micron which isn't even on the chart.
Has anyone tried it and is this product any good for finishing?

I have used this product many times. Nothing better...

You can buy direct

I use this on high end pool cues.

My recomendation is to use a squirt bottle of water when sanding.
This will avoid overheating issues and will prduce a higher luster
This product works the better than anything else I have tried on a CA finish.

The human eye can not detect the difference in the scratch pattern left behind between 0.5 micron and 1 micron. I follow up 12000 MM with a 1 micron liquid polish and I can clearly tell the difference that the 1 micron brings.

No, I haven't tried Micro Finish and don't know what's the grit size in it. I'm happy with 1 micron Micro Gloss. I spoke with the lady at the company and she said micro finish has no abrasives in it. It's just there to "shine it up". I think it's mainly just silicone or wax, antistatic, etc.
