This is the end product of the tread I started titled 'The Hook'
Now lets see if I can find a buyer-------
We have three real good shows in a row starting this weekend and I will be featuring this as a center piece.
The wood is Maple
Finish is a high gloss Laq.

Wow Gary, those are some "magnum" turnings...!

You obviously have "enough" lathe to make something like that, but I reckon the hardest part of the process in getting a good enough log to produce a monster like that. I am used to large turning so I know what is involved, and you surely did a damn good job with those...!:)

Is the pot on the second pic different then the one you holding?, it sure does look to me a little skinnier at the half bottom end and something also with the throat...! or is my eyes playing tricks on me!

I don't thing it would much of a drama for you to sell them, unless the price is too cheap or too high, just make sure they don't thing that they are made in China type of item!

Just as a point of interest, did put anything on the inside to protect the timber? I've seen people putting pot plants inside then, that either leak or water and soil gets spilled when watering it, and then things start to go wrong!:frown:

Anyway, well done and good luck with them at the shows!

Cheers
George

Thanks-- Robin
William--- she stands approx 16inchs tall---the top opening is 6 1/2 inchs
George-----Same piece in both pics---second shot is taken higher than the first.
Lathe---Powermatic 4224 that has been customized-----the inside has two coats of sanding sealer.
I am trying to sell this to a museum---it's not for potted plants.

very large & impressive..more wood on the floor than left in the vase..have you cionsidered slimming down the base to a bit smaller foot? Have enough wood left to do so? It is so hard with pictures to get a good view of shape..everything seems to distort..good luck

Awesome.
That must have created a LOT of shavings on the floor .

Where did you say you lost that first gouge that you started out with ? ? /?
