My first go with the new M3 Titanium Mokume material. This is the red/black although Chrissy keeps arguing with me that it was mislabeled and it's really pink/black. The blank is definitely red/black but it did seem to make the red a much lighter tone during the turning/finishing process.

It turns very easy and finishes just as easy. Sanded with 400/600/800/1000 and then to the buffer.

The material takes threads very well although I'd adjust my next one to use a 9mm section thread with a 12mm body. The 10mm section and 12mm body left a 1mm wall thickness all around and instead of giving like alumilite would, it cracked with almost no pressure. So definitely keep a bit of wall thickness on your threads.

I managed to get a kitless out of a single blank but did have to use ebonite for the section and finial to make it stretch.

I don't have a black light to take a picture of the UV glow of these blanks, but I'm hoping to remedy that tomorrow at some point. Once I take those pictures, I'll add them to this thread.

Congrats Carl, this is a beautiful pen.

I like the ebonite sections, as well as the overall shape. Great job! The finished appearance is excellent.

Beautiful pen. Thank you so much for taking the extra time to teach others about your experience working with M3 Titanium Mokume and the great photos.

The blank that you used is definitely our Black & Red Titanium Mokume. If you think of copper being a red metal, then you will get why we call this Red. To me, M3 Red Titanium looks a lot like copper, only the M3 will never tarnish or change colors.

The M3 PMP 2 part Premium Metal Polish would add a little more contrast to the colors by darkening the black Ti and deepening the red a bit.

You can stop sanding at 800 grit and go right to PMP for the best M3 finish imaginable. Penn State is selling our 6 gram kit for only $2.00 right now which is less than what we sell it to them for. Perfect time to give it a try before they correct the pricing.
 
Eventually. I'm waiting to swap it out with a clip I think will look better proportionally.

I bought a black light bulb from Lowe's the other day and even though it's labeled black light, it was more like a heat lamp that didn't put off the typical blue tinted light I expected. So I'm still trying to track down a light that will show off the glow of the material.
