I have been experiencing a notice that comes up every time i start up my computer lately. Was wondering if anyone recognizes this warning and what can be done to correct it. For now I have been just clicking it off.

VPROT.exe has been experiencing a problem and needs to close

What does this mean??? Thanks

vprot.exe is the vprotect program for AVG virus protect software. Something is keeping this program from opening correctly. Since AVG offers a free virus protection package, your simplest and least expensive option may be to go to a trusted site like cnet and reload the software.

Once the software has been downloaded, the install program for the new version should uninstall the corrupt files and replace them with better ones.

I hope this helps! Good luck.

Virtual proitection, It's part of AVG Safe Search Toolbar and not critical to the operation of your computer. youcan disable this toolbar which will prevent this from occuring

DON'T USE CNET!!!!!! CNET has been loading malware with it's downloads for the last few weeks. It hijacks your search engine and start page with malware.

Go directly to the AVG website and download it if you want to reinstall AVG. You should be using AVG FREE 2013.

Free Antivirus | Download Free Virus Protection Software | AVG

I had to pick malware out of two different computers last week because of CNET. Read this article. CNET is NO LONGER RELIABLE.

Cnet is accused of bundling malware with downloads- The Inquirer

I've had my own computer consulting business for 30 years and CNET was always a standby for me. No more!!!!

Thank you Sharon. What site do you recommend to use instead of CNET for other downloads?
