Lucky the Black Bears didn't get hold of this.:biggrin:

I was given several logs of this stuff a couple of years ago, together with a piece that had been worked. The guy told me that the colour had changed a bit on the worked piece and I never checked what it looked like in the raw.
I was asked by Ironwood if this was the stuff that was orange with the really white sapwood, so I went and cut this just a few minutes ago.

It is "Konkerberry" and it grows in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

I think I like it.:smile::wink:

Bob.

Yeah, and I was just talking about that "Devil" the other day...!

Most unusual colourations, shame it doesn't grow around here but, that is not a surprised, would like to have every tree species growing up here but that never will happen so, I'm blessed that I've got so many tree species that do grow in this area, about 80 I found already, it may a much slower process now to increase that number but I believe I have double of what I've got of tree species in the area so, I still keep my eyes open, and if Merissa and I can't do it anymore, I will find someone to do it for us (if possible with the $'s..!:wink::biggrin:

What are you going to do with the wood, Bob...??? pen blanks...???

Good luck...!

PS: Oh..., and if you find any of these 1976120801.jpg, they are great tucker to use in a omelette...!:eek::biggrin:

Cheers
George

Bob I think Conkerberry is one of my all time favourites and cut at right angles can be tremendous as well unusual to get this large without the termites having eaten it out the middle. A mate of mine harvested a ton of this recently is saving some for me in September.

Kind regards Peter.

I just cut a couple of pen blanks from this timber, the colour is awesome and the sapwood will make a great contrast on the pen.
Cant wait to spin one up and polish it.

Cheers,
Bob.
